Eco-labelling and product certification are important tools in raising awareness and informing buyers about the environmental, economic and social issues surrounding food products. They play a major role in allowing consumers to make responsible choices.
Friend of the Earth represents a group of international certification standards, among which the first one developed has been the Standard for Sustainable Agriculture and Farming that has been developed respecting the guidelines of the Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agriculture Systems (SAFA) of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO). The Friend of the Earth standard’s principles are based on the safeguarding and protection of the entire ecosystem.
By applying for Friend of the Earth certification of your sustainably produced agricultural and farming products you can promote sustainable consumption. C The Friend of the Earth certification logo on your products will allow consumers and customers to make a responsible choice, and contribute to safeguarding our precious ecosystem.
Friend of the Earth guarantees that products that bear the Friend of the Earth logo meet the standards of the certification scheme and are sustainably produced in a way that:
- Safeguards the ecosystem
- Protects wild fauna and flora
- Protects soil and water resources
- Prohibits the use of dangerous substances
- Displays responsible waste and energy management
- Respects social responsibility along the whole chain
- Demonstrates legal compliance
